The EU Youth Strategy (2010-2018) seeks to promote better educational and job opportunities for young people, as well as active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity. It places evidence-based policy making at the core of youth policy. According to the strategy, better knowledge and understanding of the economic and social situation of young women and men needs to be gathered and shared with other policy fields so as to enable appropriate and timely measures to be taken. Therefore, a dashboard of EU Youth indicators was developed in order to provide a quick and comprehensive cross-sectoral view of the economic and social situation of young people in the EU.
